Winthrop Rockefeller's Legacy

When Winthrop Rockefeller came to Little Rock in 1953, he was looking for a fresh start, a place to call his own. And when he passed away in 1973, he left Arkansas forever changed. Although Rockefeller was an aristocrat from New York, he found his home — his calling — in one of the poorest states in America.

The late Governor Rockefeller saw in Arkansas what many Arkansans could not see for themselves: a great potential for economic development and a breeding ground for racial and social equality. He chose to share his gifts, his visions, and his determination with the citizens of this state.
