In 2012, the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation gave $4.6 million in grants to 65 groups working in Arkansas. Grantmaking is primarily concentrated on four Moving the Needle strategic goals including:
- Reducing the number of Arkansas families living below 200% of the federal poverty line.
- Increasing high school, vocational, and college graduation rates in the state.
- Increasing educational attainment and economic mobility in select communities in Arkansas.
- Showing that strategic support and good grantmaking practices can help select grantees achieve MTN goals within the parameters of their missions.
