Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation Joins the Philanthropy's Promise Initiative
The Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation (WRF) reinforced its commitment to supporting underserved communities by joining the Philanthropy’s Promise initiative. Through this project, led by the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy (NCRP), more than 60 leading foundations from across the country have pledged to:
- Allocate at least 50 percent of their grant dollars toward addressing the unique needs of the poor, elderly, disabled, and other marginalized groups
- Allocate at least 25 percent toward supporting advocacy, community organizing, and civic engagement that promotes equity, opportunity, and justice
Philanthropy’s Promise connects directly with WRF’s Moving The Needle strategic plan, which is based on the belief that all Arkansans fare better when no one is left behind and when everyone shares in economic progress, quality education, and general community well-being. The central goals of Moving the Needle are to reduce poverty, increase graduation rates, strengthen communities, and build nonprofit infrastructure.
