Strengthen Communities
The third of the Moving the Needle (MTN) strategic plan goals is to
Increase educational attainment and economic mobility in select communities in Arkansas.
Strategy 1: Identify potential communities where local change initiatives can be supported. MORE
New Futures for Youth is working in central Little Rock to build the education and employment pipeline for youth in that community. New Futures uses their expertise in program development and building collaborative partnerships to make sure that young people aren’t left out when the community moves forward.
Strategy 2: Concentrate investments and technical assistance supports in selected demonstration community (or communities) that will show that comprehensive community change can occur over time. MORE
Strategy 3: Highlight the positive impact of civic engagement, advocacy, and community organizing in communities across Arkansas and acknowledge the role that funding from WRF and other funders plays in achieving that impact. MORE
Citizens across the state are engaging in collaborative processes focused on creating more livable, prosperous, and family-friendly communities. WRF wants to help document and promote those stories in ways that other communities, policy makers, and other funders can learn from. WRF is currently partnering with the Pine Bluff 20/20 Initiative to document and promote their successes.
Strategy 4: Build public awareness about challenges and solutions in distressed families and communities, with the ultimate goal of increasing Arkansas’s willingness to support, contribute to, and demand better outcomes for children and families. MORE
