"Why Arkansas?" Campaign

Arkansas stands out as a place of hope and progress in the South. Arkansas has maintained a more balanced political system than many other states in the region, allowing the state to advance community and family-friendly policy. Families, educators, business leaders, and policymakers are committed to advancing what works to help children and families expect more of the future. Arkansas’s successes make it a model for funders interested in learning what it takes to increase prosperity, increase educational attainment, and strengthen communities at local and state levels.

Arkansas deserves time and attention from anyone interested in making sound investments in a better future for children, families, and communities. To tell this story, the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation, in partnership with Arkansas nonprofits and state and national foundations, launched the "Why Arkansas?" Campaign with goals to:

  1. Attract resources to the state that will continue to transform the quality of life for all Arkansans
  2. Increase recognition of Arkansas as a national model for what is possible given the right investments from in-state and out-of-state resources

The "Why Arkansas?" Campaign was inspired by Ripe for Reform: Arkansas as a Model for Social Change and the initial funders tour in 2012. Since then, WRF and its partners have continued to to tell the "Why Arkansas?" story.
