Poverty has no place in Arkansas. At least that’s the credo the late Governor Winthrop Rockefeller embraced as he grew to love his adopted state. He believed this so strongly that he left a significant portion of his estate to establish a foundation that would move his beloved Arkansas out of poverty and into prosperity. The Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation is the late Governor’s perpetual gift to the state he loved.
The late Governor Rockefeller saw in Arkansas what many Arkansans could not see for themselves: a great potential for economic development and a breeding ground for racial and social equality. He chose to share his gifts, his visions, and his determination with the citizens of this state.
