Michael DeSalvo

Program Associate

(pronouns: he/him/his)

Michael is a fourth-generation Arkansan who strongly believes in WRF’s vision of creating an equitable and prosperous state that benefits all Arkansans. As a Program Associate, he supports implementation of the Foundation’s strategies through research, convening coordination, communications, grants management, and outcomes assessment.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Michael served as a budget and policy analyst for the New York City Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget, overseeing capital and expense budgets for cultural institutions and public libraries in the City of New York. Michael also has experience in the world of public policy and communications, previously working for the United Nations Development Programme as a graduate consultant and for a public relations firm as an account executive in New York City.

He earned his BA in Public Relations from Harding University and his MS in Social Work Policy Practice from Columbia University in the City of New York. While in graduate school, Michael’s research focused on expanding access to reproductive healthcare in the southern United States, as well as formulating policy solutions to increase funding for public health and sanitation infrastructure in Gaza.

A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Michael can be found frequenting Little Rock’s local food scene with his partner, enjoying Arkansas’s great outdoors, or watching a college football game (go Hogs!).

“No one should have to choose between taking care of their children, being able to provide for their families and having the independence to live life.”
