MLK Reads is a community partnership that trains and mobilizes members of Second Baptist Church and the broader community to provide support for aspiring young readers in kindergarten to third grade at Martin Luther King Elementary School in downtown Little Rock.

Inspired by its legacy of racial and social activism on education issues, Second Baptist Church established MLK Reads to help build a brighter future for local elementary students. MLK Reads provides tutors twice a week, hosts summer reading camps, and provides school supplies and other resources to MLK Elementary School students.The Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation is pleased to announce its investment in MLK Reads as part of the AR-GLR Community Solutions Initiative.The AR-GLR Community Solutions Initiative supports parents, schools, and communities working together to achieve the Campaign's goal that by 2020, all Arkansas children will read at grade-level by the end of third grade.
