In 2016, we visited 17 communities across Arkansas to answer one incredibly important question: "We Expect More of ourselves, our communities, and our state's future...so what are we going to do about it?"
A year after launching Expect More Arkansas, we're sharing how communities, organizations, and businesses across Arkansas expect more of our state's future and how they are taking action to ensure every resident has access to a high-skilled job that pays a family-supporting wage.
When we bring college and career readiness initiatives together, we're able to prepare students to fulfill our communities’ workforce needs while teaching them to be lifelong learners. We can do this by coordinating businesses and educational institutions within a region to mutually support each other.
Pea Ridge Manufacturing and Business Academy (PRMBA) prepares students to graduate high school with everything they need to succeed in college and the workplace in Northwest Arkansas. The Northwest Arkansas Council (NWA Council) has helped establish PRMBA as a school that removes barriers between students' educational experiences and college and career readiness. Families, educators, community leaders, and business leaders shape what students learn at PRMBA, which prepares them for high-skilled, in-demand jobs and instills the value of lifelong learning.
